After the nice and warm evening yesterday in Neckargemünd we did not expect such a cold night and morning. Thanks to our low temperature sleeping bag we did not freeze. But after we got up the icy air hit us into the face. You could see the mist above the river. But at least it was nice to observe and take some pictures of the landscape. Best way to get warm is to exercise. So we had a really quick breakfast and took down our completely wet tent as fast as possible to start our stage in the direction of Hemsbach.
Heading home from Neckargemünd
The day before we could have cycled some more kilometers to already arrive in Hemsbach but we just didn´t want to finish our trip earlier than planned. Thus, today’s stage was very short and as our starting place Neckargemünd is so close to our home base, we almost knew every road. First we had to follow the river Neckar for a few kilometers until we reached Heidelberg. When we passed the castle the sun was already quite warm and showed Heidelberg in a beautiful scenery. So we took a chance with a quick stop to take some photos.
Flat pathes along the Bergstraße
After passing the city of Heidelberg we cycled along the Bergstraße through fields and gardens with the view on the mountains of the Odenwald. The last kilometers to Hemsbach went by very fast, so we arrived early at home. As we left so early at the campsite in the morning, the tent was sill completely wet and needed some drying. Luckily, we could built it up in the sun shining perfectly into our backyard. Even so we didn´t have the best condition on this tour, it was still a good option to test our gear, and interesting experience to camp in autumn.
