Nice weather and a perfect bathing spot - however way too cold water!

Prologue – Mecklenburgische Seenplatte

After a long break we really wanted to go back on our bicycles, but bikepacking4life had a new member! đŸ¶Our sporty, sometimes a bit fearful, dog called Lani. We did some training at home with her to see if she would be fine with cycling and being in a dog trailer to be attched to the bicycles. Before doing a full round trip with camping and stuff we thought about a little vacation to get some routine in everything about the “dog on a bike trip process”. Thus, we rented an apartment in the rural area of the “Mecklenburgische Seenplatte” and decided to have some shorter day trips from there to check if Lani is enjoying her new life on the bike!

The benefits of the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte is, that there are not many hills and mostly flat land and that it is so rural you sometimes don’t see any cars for hours. Also Lani would be able to enjoy some nature during our breaks. So before starting a first real tour we just wanted to discover the closer area around our apartment. We got the bikes and the dog trailer ready and convinced Lani with some (or some more) treats to hop on and start our little test.

Lanis first tour through the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte

Not long after leaving the small town Zietlitz we discovered a beach sign and followed the unpaved path. Shortly after, it got very sandy and it was difficult to cycle further. However, we managed to get to the beach and made a little stop so that we could discover the small lake. Afterwards we got back to the main road. After passing a golf hotel we made our second stop at a wooden footbridge into another lake. Also this was very interesting for our new little member.

Then we cycled a bit back and wanted to follow another cyclepath sign, which led us along fields and forests until we came to a road construction. We couldn’t cross the street, so we cycled back and followed another path which led us through some woods. Finally we were back on a main road close to our apartment. Some minutes later we arrived at our temporary home and our first trip through the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte with Lani was a success! We couldn’t wait to start our first real stage.
